Certification Run

A bit of local politics-related post…and probably a wake up call for me.
With the presidential election already concluded, I am now highly considering working outside my home country.

For me to apply and work abroad confidently, I guess I would need to be more serious in studying, upgrading my skills and getting certified.

So Im planning take a few certifications in a span of 3 months.

A few considerations would be:

1. Not that expensive. Probably not more than $500 for the certifications
2. I will not start from scratch. Which means I already have knowledge or worked with the technology already. Which means easy to crack!
3. Would have an impact, career-wise.

With these considerations, I have crossed-out the 2 main things I have been preparing for the past year. These are CISSP and OSCP.

Both CISSP and OSCP are expensive. Though I have been preparing for it, its on-and-off and I am not confident enough so definitely i will start from scratch.

Since I have been working with Cloud, specifically AWS, I have decided to get AWS Solutions Architect (SAA-C02/03). I still shelled out around $50 for video trainings though.
The following are the bundles I bought Tutorials Dojo’s

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate SAA-C02 / SAA-C03
AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Practice Exams 2022
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate Practice
AWS Certified Security Specialty Practice Exams 2022

I already have Stephen Maareks SysOps Administrator videos from last year.

I havent put much thought if I will continue to AWS SysOps though and eventually AWS Security Specialist…but definitely its on the table

Next training is GRC-related, a cheap $20 1-day session on ISO Standards:

ISO 27001:2013 IT Security Management System
ISO 27701:2019 Privacy Information Management System (PIMS)
RA 10173 DPA 2012 Course

I do not have plans of becoming an auditor though. But hey! knowledge on these are still helpful. We have been following NIST CSF and MITRE Att&CK in our work anyways.

Luckily, during the crafting of this plan, The Cyber Mentor hinted that they will be having a sale on their courses and PNPT certification in a weeks’ time. So I waited for it and eventually bought it a few hours ago.

So the plan, in order is:

1. Pass AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate in 1 month (before June 30)
2. Review and pass PNPT before July 30
3. Just attend a few webinars.
